Dr Martin Nuhr studied medicine at the University of Vienna, graduating as Doctor of Medicine after completing his dissertation in 1996.
Starting in 1997, Dr Martin Nuhr underwent comprehensive specialist medical training at the Universitätsklinik für Physikalische Medizin und Rehabilitation (university medical centre for physical medicine and rehabilitation) at the Vienna General Hospital, where he worked as a senior doctor and head of the general outpatient clinic as well as the outpatient pain clinic beginning in 2003. In 2004, he was awarded the “venia docendi” authorisation to teach (his habilitation topic: the functional and morphological aspects of long-term neuromuscular electrostimulation of the skeletal muscles) by the University of Vienna’s Faculty of Medicine. He was the youngest in his field to receive it. On 1 October 2004, Dr Martin Nuhr was appointed to the position of associate professor.
Between 2006 and 2009, he completed a postgraduate MSc programme in interdisciplinary pain therapy at the Medical University of Vienna.
In 2008, Dr Nuhr also assumed the role of medical director at the NUHR Medical Center and founded the Karl Landsteiner Institut für Physikalisch-Rehabilitative Medizin (Karl Landsteiner Institute for Physical Rehabilitative Medicine) in Senftenberg, as part of the Karl Landsteiner Society.
Dr Martin Nuhr is a regular guest professor at the Medical University of Vienna, a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences, as well as the author of numerous scientific papers in renowned international specialist journals. His main scientific interest lies in the development of new treatment strategies and rehabilitation concepts for disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
